Time: 10:30 am
Tory Jack Day, held in conjunction with Black History month, will be presented at the historic Abraham Staats House. This annual event is named in honor of Jack, a slave in the Abraham Staats household during the American Revolution who was reputed to have gathered information in support of the patriot cause.
As part of this annual event to be held at the South Bound Brook Historic Preservation Advisory Commission, in conjunction with The Friends of Abraham Staats House, Inc., and in partnership with the Women’s Guild of South Bound Brook, will present eminent historian Joe Becton, who will speak at 11 am. The house will open and seating begins at 10:30 am.
Following the presentation, the public is invited to tour the house and view an exhibit on the contributions of blacks to our national heritage, presented by local historian and Women’s Guild member, Mrs. Joyce Smith.
Admission is free; donations are appreciated. The house will close at 3 pm.
